According to Fox News the guy is claiming that he was acting on behalf of Al Qaeda, and it doesn't sound like it was just a firecracker.

lol, it sounds like he took aboard a weak "explosive." Honestly it sounds like he's a loner extremist who wanted to make a statement but was too dumb to do any real damage.

One woman told CNN affiliate WDIV that a man threw a blanket over the suspect's legs to help put out the small fire.

If I was on board this plane, the above sentence would read, "A man on-board stomped the suspects face in until his mother would no longer recognize him. Then he ****ed on him to put the fire out".

Or maybe the woman didn't see how the fire started or the fact that if you don't put an end to a fire OBVIOUSLY it could spread and ignite all the left over fuel and then you'd be dead.

just a thought..you know it's fairly obvious why anyone would want to put out the fire

Kind of off topic, but when I was in high school, some *** lit off a cherry bomb in the school. Don't know exactly how powerful it was, but it was LOUD. Certainly more powerful than a "balloon popping", which was how this "terror attack" was described. And this went off in an open hallway, while a plane is a closed cabin. Anyway, it didn't even make the local newspaper, but I'm sure if it had happened today, the idiot student would be accused of being a "terrorist", the feds would be called in, and it would get national attention.

The 238 passengers were questioned after the flight. A hero person who jumped the Nigerian also suffered burns.

It seems like every time there is what is described as an attempted terrorist attack, a large group of people chime in that it wasn't very serious. Why is that?

I'd certainly rather have these acts prevented so they "aren't very serious" instead of having something like 9/11 or the Oklahoma City bombing happen again.
