Re: Insurance company that doesn't outsource
My dad is a Marine vet, I wonder if I can get a quote through USAA, I know they always seem to kick butt on customer satisfaction.

Re: Insurance company that doesn't outsource
Consumer Reports:
1) Amica
2) USAA
3) Chubbs
4) Farm Bureau FS
5) Hartford
Pretty good for Farm Bureau

Re: Insurance company that doesn't outsource
My husband worked for Liberty Mutual's company in Des Moines before we were moved to Colorado to work for their company out here (Colorado Casualty). The name of the Iowa office is Hawkeye Security. They are in West Des Moines by Jordan Creek. Outstanding company.

Re: Insurance company that doesn't outsource
One more thing I would like to add. Liberty Mutual is a privately held company and has never accepted a penny of government money. They are solid and have recently purchased SafeCo out of Seattle- an extremly large company- and they paid cash.

Re: Insurance company that doesn't outsource
Since you also brought up credit unions I was also wondering about what people recommend in the metro/Ames area.

Liberty Mutual = cheap
Cheap insurance is good until you have a claim. From personal experience, I think LM has perfected the tag team "no, your car isn't worth nearly that much" bit.
If it's your primary concern, the call center I dealt with is in Illinois...

Liberty Mutual is 10 on CR so probably not going that way, FB is rated well and local, EMC I don't know much about just yet

FB rates in DM are pretty good, they want the business there. FB is a pretty big donor to ISU and from what i know are pretty good people to work with and don't use loopholes to get out of things.
FYI, I am a FB agent.

IMT and Wadena are Midwest-based companies. We always get a U.S. person when we call, but we always call our local office and agent.

I would like to do what I can, I understand there are things you can't purchase that don't meet this criteria.
Any suggestions for WDM?
What a really great idea. I have no advice on the insurance. But I'm a member of Verdian Credit Union and I assume they are all local. And I know mediacom gets a bad rap, but at least for a year or two you can lock in at really low rates with really fast internet. I got Mediacom, figuring that I would switch to Dish or Direct soon, but I am loving having Mediacom.
