Cheap family fun
Monopoly Deal- my wife got this card game for my son for his Christmas stocking, and I thought it would be like pulling teeth to get him to play it (he's 11). Turns out, it's actually a fun way to play Monopoly (probably more fun than the original), and the games only last a few minutes. Just thought I would share. -

My wife got this for me for Christmas and I thought it was going to be really dumb because I am not much of a fan of the original Monopoly but I am addicted. We play it almost every night and it is a lot of fun. Highly recommend it!!

I run before and after school programs for elementary children. For the last month I have had kids from K-5 grade, boys and girls playing Monopoly deal. It is the only activity that a majority of my 100+ participants want to play. Ironically, it is also, the only game that doesn't get trashed and ruined.

Love it! We play it all the time. Best 4 dollar Christmas present I bought ever!

One more thing I will add...you really have to play it a few times to get used to it. I played it a couple of times and thought it was dumb but my wife kept bugging me to play so I gave the rules a good read and played through it a few more times, that is when the addiction started. -

Yeah, there is a lot more strategy than you initially think. The other night, my 11 year old played a forced deal card, and traded a property to my wife which gave her a full set, and she was trying to explain to him that he shouldn't do that, but his next card was a deal breaker, and he stole the full set that he just gave her.

Hehe, love it.
Another good game...Bananagrams! My fiancee got this for one of her sister's and we spent most of Christmas day playing it. Super fun if you're somebody that enjoys Scrabble or similar games.

Re: Cheap family fun
I was at the in-laws for Christmas and both the Father-in-law and myself got this game. It was addicting as this was the only game that we played the rest of the time. We probably played it a hundred times. It's a nice easy to learn game that doesn't take very long.
And the game can turn around in a hurry. So unlike the board game where if you aren't doing very well you are boned, with a good card or two you can turn the game right around.
