Blu Ray to Video Question
Just got a new computer with a Blu Ray drive on it. I would really like to take the DVD's that I own and rip them, then turn them into HD videos that I can watch on my computer. I've spent the better part of the night looking for converting programs. I've found some ripping programs, but none that I can turn the raw files into video. Little help here...

Re: Blu Ray to Video Question
You can't do that. It's impossible to turn a DVD into HD. It's not an HD source.
Also, it's illegal to rip most DVDs no matter how you do it, even for personal use.
Though I'm sure if you look around enough you'll find a solution that works (*cough DVD Decrypter and Handbrake cough cough*).

Re: Blu Ray to Video Question
well first off, upconverting them to hd probably isnt gonna have much benefit on a computer screen unless you're rocking a 40" monitor.
there are programs that will rip dvds into ISO files that you can just mount with a virtual dvd drive out there, i can't remember their names off the top of my head, that i used to use a lot when i would rip all the movies I netflixed.

Re: Blu Ray to Video Question
If you rip them and burn them onto Blu Ray they will just be DVD quality videos on Blu Ray disks. Your Blu Ray player will play your DVDs though. Just do that. Its impossible to make a video's quality greater than its source.

Re: Blu Ray to Video Question
I'm sorry, I misspoke...I meant that I want to rip my BLU RAY discs onto my computer in video format. Right now when ripping them I am just getting the data files. Sorry about that.

Re: Blu Ray to Video Question
It's going to take a lot of space and a fair amount of time, but the first two links on that google search seem like a good place to start.

Re: Blu Ray to Video Question
I tried the AVS video converter and it wasnt having any of the file finding. I'll snoop around a bit more. Thanks though, I appreciate the help.

Re: Blu Ray to Video Question
If I'm not mistaken, every blu ray I've bought has come with a digital copy for pc and a dvd copy. Maybe that's not blu ray

Re: Blu Ray to Video Question
Most do, but the copies are in standard definition.
