If you're planning to upgrade to a router that uses the 802.11n standard, I would wait until there are more true 802.11n routers on the market. The 802.11n standard was finally published less than 3 months ago so products based on this standard are still in production. Lots of routers were produced using different drafts of this standard. I wouldn't recommend buying anything based on a draft standard because changes were always being made. My advice: wait.
N standard is somewhat overrated unless you want to stream high def within your network or do gaming or need more range. If you don't need any of that, then g standard routers will do fine.
Linksys WRT54G is well known among geeks as a flat out performer.
I just bought this one and love it:
Amazon.com: Netgear Rangemax WNDR3700 Dual Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router (Black): Electronics
Very easy to get everything set up. Like 10 minutes. So easy a Staiger could do it.
Well I ended up pulling the trigger.
I got the
DIR-825 Xtreme N Dual Band Gigabit Router
It puts out 2 bands at the same time. One is at 2.4 and the other at 5. The weird thing is that the 2.4 seems to have a stronger signal. It's probably over-kill but my other one lasted a LONG time. Tomorrow I may play around with the Qos to see if I should make any changes since I'm using voip.
thats a good one. I was gonna recommend the dir-655, dlink's routers in general are pretty solid.
