I was just out throwing some snow around here in North Dakota, then went to store 7 minutes away, took me 30 minutes.....

KCCI is reporting that in some parts of the state, plows are being pulled off the road.

Effective when? The DOT & State Patorl road conditions website doesn't reflect this.

go to the high bandwidth version. It has it there. It's closed from the 30/35 junction to Clear Lake

I just got a report from a co-worker that the Ames to Ankeny drive was really bad with whiteout conditions. You could not see the stopped cars until you almost hit them....

I35 between Elkhart and Ankney is always bad during winter weather, usually much worse than anything else. This morning it was a death trap. I have no problem driving in winter weather, but my heart just slowed down from my morning drive up I35 this morning. It was BAD!

Nice and I imagine it's pretty ugly in parts of Ankeny proper as well (I live in the Georgetown subdivision and it blows and drifts bad all the time).

I moved from Ankeny to WDM a few months ago and this is one of the positives. Traffic may be slower going west on 235, but you are a little more blocked from the really bad blowing and drifting you get on 35 between DM and Ankeny.
