Ice Fishing
anyone been having any luck through the ice lately? things have been pretty slow on the east end of the state on the big water. the farm ponds I've fished have been decent, but not as good as they usually are. A group of us are heading up to clear lake then possibly rice lake this weekend, any advice as to where the fish are biting? have you DSM guys been doing any good?

Caught our limit every day on our weekend trip to Grand Marais, MN two weeks ago.
That's 3 days of 3 people limiting out on lake trout.... within the first 3 hours each day.

I agree, especially when you've got a 100 feet or so of line down and you're fighting it the whole time!! went to the boundary waters a last year and fished snowbank lake, it was a blast!!

Oh yeah, that's about 30 minutes south of where we stay. I posted a pic of Sven and Oli's, because anybody who's been that far up the north shore knows all about that place lol.

Farm Ponds in Butler/Grundy county has been it for me this year.
the Vex found fish just fine but not as good as I found the Schnapps.

Re: Ice Fishing
Around Ames has been brutal for me. Caught a couple decent crappie out of Ada Hayden. Made 3-4 trips down to Big Creek and haven't had a bite this year.
Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

Re: Ice Fishing
I've been fishing twice this winter. Both times I went to Hickory Grove over by Colo about 15 miles east of Ames. The first time I went for about an hour and a half right before dark and caught about a dozen decent sized bluegills. The second time I caught about 30 good sized gills with a couple pretty good ones in around 3 hours. Haven't been able to get out nearly enough but have had pretty good luck.
