As someone who doesn't know much about hockey, what are our chances of a good showing in the olympics this year?
Vegas currently says 7-1 odds of the USA claiming a gold medal in mens' hockey. Their offense is solid, and so is goaltending with Miller and Quick in net.
The biggest issue is their blue liners. They've had unexpected injuries with Komisarek and Martin likely being scratches. Going to mean a lot of hard skating for guys like Erik Johnson. I've heavily wagered on the States in the bookie event, because nothing electrifies me like USA Olympic hockey, but the USA has gone from being a dark horse to a long shot with recent developments.
I think they'll bring some loot back from Vancouver, but winning gold is going to be an uphill battle.
