3A football re-allignment
http://www.iahsaa.org/football/Distr...CLASS%203A.pdf
Looks like Solon, Newton, Rock Valley, Humbolt, and Red Oak are all new teams in 3A. Newton dropped from 4a and Solon came up from 2a. Both should make it interesting.
Some districts are loaded and some are pretty light. District 6 looks impressive. Grinnell, Mount Vernon, Solon, and Williamsburg. -

It will be interesting to see how Solon fares in the near future...

Re: 3A football re-allignment
It's a sad day for Newton football(one of many in the past 2 years). We used to be the smallest school in 4A, but always came to play and made the playoffs nearly every year. We had, not so long, a 17 year streak. Now, it's just too sad to watch.

Re: 3A football re-allignment
Well newton is now one of the biggest 3a schools.
I guess Mount Vernon hasn't been worth a darn lately, but still district 6 should be rough. Replace them with Clear Creek.

I'm fairly certain Humboldt has been 3A for awhile.

Re: 3A football re-allignment
Newton used to kick the snot out of us every year. (DSM Lincoln). Also my kids go to Norwalk and we will be moving up to 4A in 2011. Most sports will be fine. However the Norwalk Warrior football team is not really any good.
Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

Re: 3A football re-allignment
Isn't Newton in the CIML? Can they play 3A football and be in that league? The MVC league does not allow that in football...it does allow it in other sports though.

However the Norwalk Warrior football team is not really any good. Same was with Marshalltown. The streak was ~16 with them. We always had a tough, tough running game. Ever since Maytag pulled out, we've been less than stellar.

No. Last year, or couple years ago, they moved all their sports to 3A except for football. So in football, we were a 4A independent team (like Notre Dame). Now all of our sports are 3A.

Haven't been in the CIML for 3 years now. We've been a 4-A independent since. Every other sport has already made the change to 3-A.

Re: 3A football re-allignment
doesnt matter much... Harlan, and recently Sioux City Heelen are 3A... the rest are just in the way. They need to split the previous mentioned teams up. :)
red oak is in trouble.
