Re: Snow Drifts
Just another subject to ***** about on this board.
Really? Where else is the snow going to go? Do you really think most municipal and state snow plows have the time and resources to make sure there isn't any snow piled at the bottom of your driveway? It would take 3-4 times as long and a lot more fuel to clear each and every single driveway. You are probably upset that they don't take the time to plow your whole driveway either.
And I agree that it is probably illegal (if not, it should be) to push the snow from your driveway back into the street. It's also ignorant as well and just adds to the hazards already present.

Have you asked them to do your drive? You said you hardly talk, so...

Re: Snow Drifts
If you shovel the drift into the road, make sure it is a "downstream dump."

Re: Snow Drifts
It's not really a drift if the plow pushed it into your driveway.

Re: Snow Drifts
Most cities have city ordinances against pushing snow back into the street. So it most certainly is illegal.
The reason behind it... it creates a hazard to other motorists.
After a plow comes through and piles it up, there is more likely to have large snow or ice chunks in it and I know I wouldn't want to face off against that after it's been pushed back into the street.
Also a drift is caused by wind and snow, not a plow and snow.

How don't you understand how that would be illegal? It hazardous to have snow on the roads, that is why they plow the streets. You throwing the snow back on the roads creates a hazard that the plowing tries to avoid. If everyone was allowed to shovel out their driveway and just throw the snow back on the street, why plow it in the first place?

Re: Snow Drifts
Look guys, all that matters is he has snow in his driveway. HE DOESN'T DESERVE THIS

Re: Snow Drifts
How can you be ****** about it, you know it is going to happen. Would you rather them not plow your road? If you are tired of pushing snow maybe it is time to get a snow blower or offer your neighbors money to clean it for you. I am ****** to that I spent 2 hours yesterday cleaning snow and tonight it is all drifted back in. But what do you do but go push it again.
