Will Google take a significant amount of traffic from Facebook?

Re: Buzz
Why is google opening a facebook type deal. Facebook keeps ******* people off by changing the format. Not sure why they keep doing it. Anyway I think people would switch if there was a mass movement that way.
Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

Facebook or Twitter? I could see it being more damaging to Twitter

Re: Buzz
facebook's 400 million strong userbase beats out gmail's 150 million, especially when only a small fraction of the gmail userbase will use it as a social networking tool.
What's going to be really interesting is when facebook rolls out its webmail, codenamed 'project titan'.

Re: Buzz
I would think it will hurt Twitter more, but I haven't really played around with it.

Re: Buzz
It's more of a play for Twitter.

Re: Buzz
Quick answer: NO.
I would agree with someone else that Facebook stands a better chance of crushing Gmail, then the other way around. There is NOTHING special about Gmail. It looks the same as it did 5 years ago when it was cool to have. Now it just looks tired and boring. Personally I could care less about Facebook or it having an email service. But, I think Facebook offering email will be a HUGE event...

Given facebook's disregard for privacy and google's cash on hand and technical prowess, I would say that if they did it right google can crush facebook.
Having said that, they already have a social network called orkut - and no one's heard of it.

Re: Buzz
I wouldnt say gmail's without its privacy concerns as well, and theyve never dealt with a vast social network like facebook.
I, for one, find no problem with fbook's privacy controls.

Re: Buzz
I like gmail for the fact that it never changes. Sure, they make small changes to make things better organized and more user friendly, but their consistency is why I keep my email there. As for facebook, it really makes me mad when they keep changing everything. It's obviously working, so leave alone things that aren't broke.

They need to add more features that are standard with other mail clients though. Things like read receipts, and the ability to sort your messages in more ways (like by size)

Re: Buzz
The way Buzz is set-up now, no. I'm always stocked about new google products but this one is just blah. Google voice on the other hand I'm loving.
BTW-If anyone needs a google voice invite PM me and I'll send you one. I have a couple extra.
