Best Unknown Guitarists
Who are some of the best unknown guitarists you've heard/know? I'm going to start.
Rico McFarland -- I saw this guy playing a free public concert in Chicago this summer. I heard it in the distance near where I live, so went to check it out and oh my god this guy blew my mind for about 90 straight minutes. I've been playing guitar for almost 15 years, so not a lot makes me say "wow" anymore but this guy could do it all. He could even ******* sweep pick like a neo classical metal guitarist: Sample vid:

Another guy is Ric Hall. He's the rhythm guitarist for Buddy Guy but holy **** can this guy play. Saw him this summer at a Buddy Guy concert when Guy gave him about a 10 minute solo. He's pretty good, unknown:

Re: Best Unknown Guitarists
I don't know if he qualifies as a true "unknown," but Jeff Beck knew a chord or two.
Tim Reynolds too.

Re: Best Unknown Guitarists
I know a lot of people have heard of David Gilmour but I don't think he gets the respect he deserves as a guitarist. When you get a chance go back and listen to his solos on Dark Side of the Moon. They're just phenominal. Or check out Live at Pompeii, he just blazes on Echoes.
Also, Adrian Belew. The stuff on Remain In Light is really innovative for 1980 and the concert footage from Rome that year for the Remain In Light tour is intense. he's fantastic.
RIP Janice

Tim Reynolds too. I just saw a concert recently on PBS with Jeff Beck. He was good but I was blown away by his bassist. She looked like she was seventeen or something and she could rock like Geezer Butler. Anybody else see this?
