All I can think of when I hear this is the episode of "The Office" with Michael, Dwight, and Andy trying it out. That pretty much summed it up for me.

Maybe I'm the weird one for not getting it. I just don't get the point of videotaping myself doing stupid crap - I do enough of it already without it being recorded. It just kind of seems like trying too hard.

Point of me is to make babies and sunshine.

Point of football is to make us angry and happy all at once.

Parkour on ISU campus. I saw these fools at the college of design a lot. I'm guessing they are all former gymansts.

and current idiots. I wonder if Iowa State is aware of their little hobby? Seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen. One of these Bonobo wannabees is going to split his head open one of these days and mommy and daddy will try to blame the school.

I've done it for four years and it's the most fun physical activity i've ever done, by far. Very hard, but the pay offs are amazing.

Anything with flips isn't parkour though fyi. Similar, but not even close to the same thing. Flips and all that stuff is free running which I guess would be considered just a little bit more dangerous

I'm just curious - why does it need to be videotaped?

Lol it doesn't. I hate being videotaped for stupid **** like that. There's only one good reason why people videotape..it's to show a new method of doing something. Otherwise it's just a new type of narcissism.

Parkour itself started as a french military training...kind of pisses me off that people think flips are in parkour, when they aren't.

Also, the real way to practice is to do something on a really small scale countless times unless you're comfortable with it, build up...do the same thing...blah blah. It almost becomes second nature which is why nobody who's actually good gets injured very much. Only the idiots who don't practice enough get injured. I laugh at people who try and dive right into it thinking it's different than any other physical activity and then they get injured.

No kidding. I prefer my narcissism the way it was intended, dammit, standing next to the water admiring my own reflection.
