As much as I'd like to think that the "numbers = solved", I don't think we've seen the whole story behind them.

As much as I'd like to think that the "numbers = solved", I don't think we've seen the whole story behind them. I meant they're "solved" in that we know they were variables of the V equation. of course we haven't, but we know at the highest level what they are and we've known for awhile.

Re: LOST: The Substitute
So here's a question...do you think MIB was actually a candidate who accepted the island position? Then after awhile, he found out the island is just nothing (or that's what he thinks), and got ****** at jacob, but cant leave until he finds a replacement
?

? Was just hashing this out with my girlfriend over IM. We're thinking the MiB is actually something of the "ultimate evil", and that Jacob is sort of a watch dog to keep him on the island.
Another thought came to mind, though... Jacob trying to find a replacement bears a striking resemblance to Inman finding Desmond to replace him in the hatch, so that he could press a button every 108 minutes and "save the world" as it were.
Hmm. Something's beginning to smell like carrots.
EDIT: Coincidentally... next week's episode is the 108th episode of Lost...

? Not a bad theory. I think that it could be something similar, but maybe with a twist. I am so glad they had a strong episode this week because so far this season had been more flash, less substance as a whole.

This show is awesome. Like Satan tempting ****** to throw himself off a cliff whilst ****** was in the desert

I loved this episode and I'm hoping to god somehow we get to see flashbacks from MiB. That would be amazing...

This show is awesome. Maybe it's a test to see who's strong enough to "survive" and lead the island, or whatever the hell it is they want the "candidates" to do.

And why does MIB need Sawyer to get "home"?
This show is great. -

This show is great.
Anyone think he is just going to use Sawyer like he did Ben, to kill off the others listed?
(I still think they are playing a big game between good and evil here.)
Is the kid Jacob Reborn? Is that why MIB/Smokie was spooked when he saw him?
We need some flashbacks of MIB too....that would help- Still, a cool episode last evening. yeah LOST!

Re: LOST: The Substitute
First off. AWESOME EPISODE. I was sold from the moment we had the first person view of Smokey. Just a couple notes that I haven't seen mentioned here:
We learned a lot more about the alternate reality in this episode. Did anyone catch that Locke's dad was invited to their wedding? This means he must not have been the one who pushed him out the window and he ended up crippled from some other accident.
Also answered that Rose does indeed still have cancer in the alternate reality. I thought the scene with Lock and Hurley in the alt timeline was interesting.
Regarding stuff back on the island:
I think the boy is definitely a young Jacob because MIB recognized him immediately and presumably he has not seen Aaron since he left the island as a baby. This is Lost so anything is possible, but it is Jacob IMHO.
One other thing of interest: They buried Locke's body at the end of the episode so how will that effect smokey's ability to shift shape? It's been a long standing theory that burying bodies somehow interferes with MIB being able to take their form. Ilana also mentioned that MIB is now "stuck" as Locke. I'll be interested to see why that is and what it means...
