Re: Legends story to be researched by KCCI
I guess I don't find it too far fetched to believe that the owner was getting slammed working in the back, was stressed, and didn't want to deal with a customer complaint and lost it on his own without being provoked. Hell... people do that at work with their co-workers on a daily basis.
At my job I come into contact with customers daily. There are always some that can be irate or displeased with defective product, damaged product, or whatever the case may be. None of these issues are issues that I created or have any control over and if you think my boss or CEO would be ok with me telling the customer tough **** then you are crazy. I would be looking for another job by the end of the day.

So would it be safe to assume that the waitress waiting on the teachers came over to their table with that same negative attitude and gave them lip unprovoked when they explained their issue with finding a hair in a salad?
Based on your opinions I would say it was just as likely if not more that there was no provoking done by the teachers and the waitress immediately went on the offensive and made her rude remarks.

Actually quite the opposite. You know, you work for the tips? Certainly in my case, and in all of the foodservers I worked with, we would try to go the extra mile for difficult customers, female or male. Again, we worked for the tips, and took difficult customers as a challenge to win over.
In this case, I surmise that the food server involved found it hard to put her words togther in a polite, articluate manner that the teachers respected, and thus she came across to them as blunt or even rude.

Re: Legends story to be researched by KCCI
The thing is, all is conjecture unless you were there. And possibly conjecture by some who were there. We can complain all day using our own experiences as backup, but it doesn't change what happened or didn't happen here. We tend to remember the most unusual experiences we have whether positive or negative, but that alone doesn't give us license to generalize everyone else's experiences by what we remember.
Yes, I've been a waitress. Yes, I've found hair in my food -- more than once. But nothing beats the live beetle crawling around, covered with dressing, in my husband's lettuce salad several years ago. No, not in Legends, not Des Moines, not even central Iowa. Good thing he was eating slowly.

As someone who eats downtown every day I have to say that Monday was crazy at nearly every lunch place downtown. I was asking myself "what the hell is going on here". I went back to my desk and tried to find out what was happening but the only thing I saw was the big WWE event and the people waiting in line didn't look like wrestlers.

I bartended for awhile and if I went the extra mile to talk with and make it seem like I genuwinely cared about the conversation, they tipped much better than men. Then again, I am a man. I think sometimes women feel threatened by other women when dealing with waitresses/bartenders.
