Re: Legends story to be researched by KCCI
After re-reading the original email and the response from the DOO of Legends, a few things stood out. In the original email, Marsha isn't even the one who had the hair in her salad, it was another coworker. She also uses "we" a lot, which to me infers that the woman who did have the hair in her salad potentially didn't want to press the issue, but the rest of the group did. We thought management would like to know of her rude comments, and thought our group member who received the “hair salad” deserved to hear something along the lines of, “We are sorry for the hair, and for our server’s response.” Additionally, we thought the manager might want to speak with the server about better ways to respond to reports of hair in the food.
It's an unfortunate incident all around that has progressed into something extremely divisive. I have never been to Legends, but I don't think this incident would keep me from eating there. If you have a few minutes, I will go into a tirade about why I will never eat at a Mondo's again. -

There may be more to this than a "hair"
See the following link: HorsesAss.Org Blog Archive EFF supports state income tax!
Note: This may not be the same Marsha Richards, I have no proof either way. The subject of the blog seems to be issues in Washington State in 2004, so it's probably not the same person. However, Marsha did come to the Des Moines School District about 6 years ago, so the time line could match up.

We shouldn't debate teachers on here right now. After all, it's mid day and this board is probably chalk full of them. Anyone not for them may wake up with a horse head in their bed.......or a tossed salad from Legends..... Lifetime Achievement- In on page 1 of a THujone MS Paint thread. -

Your statement is a common one and a flawed one from conservatives. They just don't grasp the concept of someone taking a job like being a teacher with the sole purpose of helping others. People don't go into teaching for the money.... that is the disconnect with the conservative crowd and education system right there. There are good teachers, but majority of them go into the profession because of the benefits and they can withstand dealing with children more so than adults.

So..... at the end of the day... This whole incident at Legends will just blow over in a week or two and nothing will come of it or does it continue on and linger for awhile causing issues for both Marsha and Legends?

I certainly hope some of you are only trying to get under someone's skin and not being serious. The broad sweep of the brush on labeling any group of people based on sex, religion, skin color, income, job,etc is just wrong. The world needs tolerance of others, not some of the garbage that is being said on here. Every cross section of the population or subgroup has positives and a few negatives, but to make a blanket statement on any group (if serious) is just wrong. Gladly accept the gifts of the present hour.

It has caused me to go against whatever marsha rallies for in her free time (sounds like unionized teachers; higher teacher pay), if that counts...
You hear 'teachers are drastically underpaid' all the time, but I don't know how $55k/year ($73k annualized) is considered underpaid... especially if she's only been there 6 years

I think a lot of teacher's hate their own union for the way it negotiates some of their deals.

Re: Legends story to be researched by KCCI
I know mark rogers personally. He has a tendency to be a little outspoken at times and quite honestly, this story doesn't sound COMPLETELY out of character for him, but he is not even close to the kind of person he is being made out to be here. I can guarantee he wouldn't act like that unless he was under severe stress and something set him off (ie, an extremely rude customer). That is obviously no excuse for acting the way he did. You can't act like that especially in his line of work or you will lose business fast. Mark knows that. If he didn't he wouldn't have been in the business for as long as he has been, he wouldn't have expanded as much as he has, and he certainly wouldn't have issued an apology on the air. He is a very charismatic guy and I'm sure when he says that he couldn't make her happy, that he really couldn't make her happy. (for those that don't know what I'm talking about, he was interviewed on KCCI). I haven't heard his side of the story other than what was reported on the news. I will hear more details soon I suspect, but I have no doubt that it there will be some inconsistencies with what the teacher said and what really happened.

Last warning. This is not a thread about the validity of the public education system. Attempts to make this thread political will not be appreciated.
