I really doubt this, I was on board with it until they said a kid was being disciplined for improper conduct in his home. No school would ever be that dumb to try and charge someone with that.

But schools use photos they steal from kids facebook and myspace accounts all the time to suspend them from activities even when said photos are taken in the students home or on vacation with their parents.

That sounds believable. I don't agree with that, but I can see that happening. You may argue that the kids choose to make some photos available on sites such as facebook.
But these voyeur cameras takes things to a whole new level.

Really kind of surprised to see this buried on page 3 with just 6 comments.

Let's do a reality check on this:

1. School intentionally purchases software that allows them to monitor the web-cams on the laptops they give students to take home.

2. School actually turns on said webcams, outside of school hours, allegedly to track stolen laptops, but somehow they manage to turn on webcam of a non-stolen webcam at least once.

3. School then tries to discipline student whose webcam they turned on, for "misbehavior in the home".

What kind of control freaks do they have at that Pennsylvania school?

Seriously. I don't just want civil penalties, I want to see everyone in the decision loop on this in prison, doing hard time. Not for this one student's sake, but so that school administrators everywhere wet themselves with fear for stepping over the line so badly.

I like my government officials/workers afraid. It's time to put the "servant" back into "public servant".

What's even worse is the thought that officials could have/probably did spy on the girls in their room changing clothes, etc.

If I were a parent in that district, I'd want heads to roll and wouldn't stop until it happened. The fact that people this stupid are in education is more than troubling.

They better give these guys MORE than a wrist slap.
