Re: ***official tiger woods presser thread***
Tiger made bad decisions yet expects everyone else to make better decisions. He just needs to shut up and ride it out. Lead by example and the rest will take care of itself.

Anyone who thinks he owes an apology to his fans and/or fellow golfers is crazy. I think he owes an apology to his sponsors but not joe public or fellow golfers.

Anyone who thinks he owes an apology to his fans and/or fellow golfers is crazy. So what was the point of this ordeal today. No matter who he is supposed to be apologizing to, that was the point of this speel today.

The point of today was to start the rebuilding of Tiger's image for the sole purpose of getting endorsement deals and making money. End of Story. The only thing Tiger is sorry about is the fact that he got busted.

And now we have a "Hair Direct" ad on the page:)

Tiger, like it or not, is a public figure, whose income largely depends on fan support.
Therefore, he has whored himself out to his fans, who get a vote on each and every thing he does. As long as he chooses to pursue that line of work, anyone, anywhere can rightfully question his behavior.
Failing to realize that is naive.

Re: ***official tiger woods presser thread***
Amazing.
A golfer gets treated like he is the damned POTUS...on all the news channels and of course the sports channels giving an "address". I'm surprised he didn't have his TW logo on the front of the lecturn or behind him in the background.
He either wrote this and practiced it himself or he needs to fire whoever wrote it and helped him practice it. Very poorly constructed address and not very well delivered. It was interesting that his delivery improved a couple of times...notably when he was talking about his foundation and their work with kids...those might have been some boiler plate quotes that he has used many times before when talking about his foundation.
I'd like to know who was in the room...what list of family, friends, associates, employees, etc. Does anyone have that?
The bottom line IMO is that he was talking to a very small percentage of people today...those that are going to change their mind about how they view Tiger Woods based upon what he says or does. I think most people are either like me or my wife...my wife will never again watch Tiger or believe what he says no matter what and I only watch him because he is the finest golfer ever and likely the most dominant person in any sport ever and I could not care less about his private life and whether or not he is banging everything that twitches.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -

Failing to realize that is naive. Ding ding ding..... Without a huge fan base he has no way to market himself to huge corporations to get them to pay him millions for endorsing their crap. Just being the best at something isn't enough. You have to have fan support and lot's of it to rake in the kind of loot he does... or shall I say used to. TRA #13 -

I know that Nike plans his wardrobe a year in advance for each major to make sure they can get enough made in time to get to the sporting goods stores. When Joe Blow would see Tiger wearing that shirt at a golf tournament on tv, they would go out and buy the same thing.

I'm sure the taxpayers enjoy paying for the police investigation during the "crashing the Escalade fiasco".
