I actually took video, while driving in my truck with my iPhone, to show the girlfriend just how bad the ride is...

It very bad, even more so if the left lane. I was following somebody in a truck yesterday morning who had ski equipment in the back of there truck. We were in the left lane and the bumps were so bad it flung a ski pole out of the bed of his truck which I ended up driving over...

Not weather related, but yesterday I drove on highway 30 between Ames and Boone for probably the first time since last may. That stretch of road is in a state of disrepair to say the least. About every 15 feet there is a bump in that road. If I were a lady that might make for an enjoyable ride, but since I am not I really didn't find it much fun. I can only imagine what it would be like for someoone in a big truck, say an unloaded dump truck, to drive over that. I would think they'd be throwing up. The DOT really screwed the pooch on that one, roads should never get that bad.

I agree I drive this every morning and I am expecting to break a shock or another suspension part any day now.

This winter has been brutal on roads. I was reading an article that discussed Polk County was doing an analysis on whether or not it was even cost effective to patch potholes until spring time. If I recall correctly, the costs to replace a pothole are not worth it when the patches only last for about 7-10 days because of the weather.

But does it compare auto repair costs and the eventual "price" of very real citizen attitudes? I hope there's a "to do" map in every city street department and county engineer office with road repair lists and an Oct. 31, 2010 deadline.

Sounds like pretty much every street in Omaha. But we'll have a shiny new baseball stadium that will sit empty 90% of the year!
