Trainer killed by whale at Sea World
A killer whale at Sea World in Florida grabbed and killed a trainer in front of a stunned audience. Very sad situation. Whale Kills Sea World Trainer at Shamu Stadium in Florida - ABC News -
Re: Trainer killed by whale at Sea World
Apparently this whale has killed before and that the trainers aren't allowed to go into the tank with the whale.

The body of Daniel Dukes, 27, was found naked draped across the giant whales body in July 199.
this is one bad*** serial killer whale.

Re: Trainer killed by whale at Sea World
I watched a show on Discovery a couple weeks ago about the killer whales. Said they've never been known to kill people.
However, the way they hunt and track things as a group is just amazing. Each group of killer whales has adapted ways to hunt and kill prey from Sting Rays to Great Whites.
One segment showed them coordinating their efforts to create a massive tidal wave to knock a sea lion off his ice chunk after he stranded himself there.
Extremely smart animals.

The body of Daniel Dukes, 27, was found naked draped across the giant whales body in July 1999. Dukes reportedly made his way past security at SeaWorld, remaining in the park after it had closed. Wearing only his underwear, Dukes either jumped, fell or was pulled into the frigid water of Tillikum's huge tank.
An autopsy ruled that he died of hypothermia in the 50-degree water. Dukes' parents filed a lawsuit against the park later that year, but later withdrew it.
but it sounds an awful lot like the the modus operandi of the SMILEY FACE KILLERS... MWAH-HA-HA!!!

Extremely smart animals. maybe in the wild but if you lock them in a tank and make them do tricks every day at 12:30 and 5:30 then they wear your naked corpse as a scarf.

I'm still chuckling over it's tacky inappropriateness and dark humor...

Also seems to me that data set to prove or disprove that might be a tough sparse as well due to the Killer Whales' natural habitat.

And if you kill their mate they'll lead to the open ocean and strand your butt on an iceberg and then eat you. Orca (film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia -
