Are you looking to buy material to do yourself or hiring it all out? Obviously there is substantial savings in doing it yourself. I have no idea on sq ft cost but among the bids I have seen it can vary wildly and the types of material (even vinyl) can differ in quality. I had bids ranging from 8k to almost twice that. I essentially have a 2 story home in terms of amount of material. A nice low ranch could be much cheaper! You could always go with cement siding (that bid was 30k! )
there are also different grades of vinyl siding too, don't get the cheapest stuff, I have found it to be really brittle over time
Totally true, better to get better quality, unless u are looking to sell in next 5 years. Not saying to put crap on, but maybe not top of the line. I don't remember what it was 6 years ago, used to side homes. Get a bid for "Craneboard". It is Vinyl siding with foam backing, very durable stuff and goes up quicker than normal vinyl.
Living in Illinois, finally back in the Midwest, Heart still in Ames.
