Snow again? Seriously?
Anybody see the forecast for this upcoming weekend? Looks like winter still has a last gasp. Not sure what's going to happen yet but I've read a couple of forecasts and one of them (KCCI) is saying it could be a shovelling type event. This sucks! The golf courses were just beginning to open up! I was just getting used to seeing my lawn! Hopefully this stuff is gone before the weekend of the 27th, maybe then I'll be able to hit the links...

While the mention of snow this late in March after the winter we've been through sucks, the good news is this time of year, it normally doesn't stick around long.

I know it's not unusual to get snow after mid-march but I was hoping in the back of my mind that this long, crappy winter had finally gave way to spring. Hopefully it isn't measurable snow and it stays liquid (actually hopefully it misses us but based on the maps I don't think we have an option on that). It doesn look like the temps get back up into the 40's and 50's by mid next week so if it doesn snow hopefully it doesn't stay too long.

It's mid-March in Iowa. What did you expect?

Re: Snow again? Seriously?
Everyone who has ever lived in Iowa knows it always get's warm then dumps one last snow on us. Almost like the weather is laughing at us. I am used to it.
Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

I've always said that March through mid-April is the worst stretch for weather in Iowa. It can be Spring like one day, snowing the next day and two days later, it's spring like again.

Re: Snow again? Seriously?
It just boils down to how this came about. Three weeks ago I didn't think anybody in Iowa had a chance to play golf before April came around. Then it started melting a couple of weeks ago. I still figured that with SO MUCH snow on the ground that more than likely what would happen is it would melt down to like three or four inches and then it would snow again just to tease us. But it never snowed, and low and behold even though we had like 18" of snow on the ground 98% of it vanished in the last two weeks. Then I started getting e-mails from local golf courses saying they were going to be opening, I was in shock. So now, we have snow back on the horizon again. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed it is either all rain or a mix. Otherwise standing snow would probably close them down again for another week or so.

Its a Iowa March. Dont like the weather wait a day or two and it will be different.

Re: Snow again? Seriously?
There are two forecast models predicting between 12-15 inches of snow between Saturday and Sunday for Ames....6-12 for Cedar Rapids. Not looking good... Meteogram Generator -
