I played 11 years of baseball before blowing my rotator cuff and not having the money to fix it, so they will at least be made available to the idea of playing but not made to play if they don't want to!! They will be Twins fans though!!! -

Or do we just have to wait until they're here?? Thanks in advance for any info provided!! I can't give you any advice, but I do want to congratulate you on the twins. I've been a life long Twins fan, and ever since I saw the pic in your sig, I've been meaning to ask if you were at game 163 back in October?

No we weren't there for that one, but the wife has business opportunities to tranfer there and also went to school up there and loves it. So thinking about moving there eventually!! I've been a Twins fan since the mid 80's when my best friend's uncle lived there and sent him a "homer hankie", we've followed them ever since!! Wife didn't really care about baseball but loved living in Minnesota and is a HUGE Vikings fan, so after going to the Dome a few times, she was hooked!!

Re: Having Twins
Don't forget, it is okay to get a babysitter once in awhile. Maybe start scoping out people that you know and trust. Or ask your friend who they use.

I guess I'm the only one whose mind wandered on the thread title.
Anyway, I'll put those thoughts away and and just wish you the best

Identical twins come from a single fertilized embryo splitting into two. Fraternal twins come from two eggs being fertilized separately (essentially, it's just normal fertilization occurring twice in the same cycle). They should be able to tell on ultrasound, especially this early on - if both heartbeats are inside one sac, identical. If you see two separate yolk sacs, usually fraternal (although some identical twins will develop separate sacs, depending on how far along the zygote was when splitting). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twin#Dizygotic_twins

Re: Having Twins
Congratulations! So the betas were right. We don't have twins, but I do have quite a few friends that do and have picked up some things just from talking to them.
The most definitive way to tell if they're identical vs. fraternal is to do a test after the babies are born. Like a PP said, if they're in one amniotic sac, they're definitely identical, but if they're in two, they could be either identical or fraternal.
Your wife will have to treat her pregnancy a little differently than if she was having a singleton. She will have to eat a bit more than if she was pg with one. She might have more monitoring from her Dr. (that varies by Dr.) and twin pregnancies rarely go the full 40 weeks. Full-term with twins is considered closer to 36 weeks, so expect that they'll come a little early.
Do not be afraid to ask for help from family and friends, especially right after the babies are born. Good luck!

To give some advice. I will quote Iron Maiden "Run to the Hillssssss" "run for your Life". Just kidding. Good luck
Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

Re: Having Twins
A coworker of mine has triplets, and if he can handle them, you'll have no problem with twins.
Congratulations.

Re: Having Twins
My wife and I just had fraternal twin girls in January. We already have a 2 1/2 year old daughter as well. As BrianHos said, it's pretty rough at first. Our oldest is actually quite a big help, as sometimes you wish you had 8 sets of hands. Our twins require extra attention it seems, as they both have moderate reflux, and one has been fairly colicky so far.
If you go the formula route (can be challenging to nurse two), go with Good Start from Gerber (used to be Nestle). Easy to digest and contains natural cultures for immune system support. We also use the Dr. Brown's bottles, which are more expensive, but help to prevent baby from taking in too much air.
Pick up a copy of the book, "On Becoming Babywise". We found it to be a great resource, and worked wonders with our first daughter. I would recommend this book to any expectant couple.
It's a lot of work, but if both of you combine to tackle the workload, it's not too bad. Some days really suck, but others are pretty good. Oh, and take whatever help you are offered, whether it's meals, house cleaning, laundry, doesn't matter. If people want to help - let them.
Good luck, and have fun.

Re: Having Twins
Thanks for all the info everyone. There are 2 seperate sacs and 2 very strong heartbeats that we got to hear yesterday!! Kinda hoping for fraternal so we can have 1 boy and 1 girl, as I've been informed that identical are always the same sex.
