Tecmo Bowl Throwback - TB on your Xbox360/PS3

For those of you old school video game freaks (like myself!), Tecmo has announced that they will be releasing a version of their 1991 video game on the Xbox 360 and the PS3 - both games will be fully compatible with online multiplayer. The roster's stats will be based on the 1991 games, but WILL NOT be packaged with the team names/logos/players due to the fact that EA has the rights to the NFL license. However, the team names/player names are editable so that you can create your team (which is still located in the same city). They also use the same playbooks as the 1991 version of the game.

I hope they do well with this. This is one of my favorite games of all time, hopefully they do well with this. Info below:

The game will be released sometime this spring on XBLA and PSN.

In that ESPN link, they keep referring to the "SNES" version, but that looks like the NES version to me. I hope it is like the NES version - probably my all-time favorite game.

Pretty cool. Hopefully they'll do the same thing with "Baseball Stars"... best sports vid game ever.

Yeah, I'm not sure what to expect. The SNES version of the game was released in 1993, but it clearly states in the article that the new game will feature the 1991 rosters, which was the roster featured in Tecmo Super Bowl on the NES. I always disliked the SNES versions because they felt so slow compared to the TSB on the NES. If they use the graphics engine from the SNES, hopefully they sped everything up. The 3D thing might add an interesting twist as well.

Firstly, the best sports video game ever was Tecmo Super Bowl on the NES. :wink:

Secondly, I preferred the original RBI Baseball on the NES to Baseball Stars, though Baseball stars was good.

Did anyone here ever play a game called "Little League Baseball" on the NES? That game is sweet as well.

agreed baseball stars was GREAT!

I so want a PS3 right now.
