Grown up Softball guy
Just have to get this off my chest. We are trying to reserve spots at the batting cages and can't get time. We finally were able to reserve a spot out in pleasanthill. Only one cage though. So we get there and apparently these old men are so desperate to relive there younger days that they are actually tossing soft pitch practice in the cages. So to get this straight little league and AAU teams are trying to get there kids ready for the season and softball guy thinks he needs the batting practice more. Guys your throwing the ball underhanded and lofting it at that. You don't need practice. You need to show up and drink beer and play softball. I was actually embarrased for these guys. If you are one of them you need to stop. You need to concentrate on your own kids and give up the dream. I understand you enjoy playing softball. It just makes me mad because these guys are taking up the cages for kids who need them.
Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

Little Timmy can wait his turn like everyone else. Builds character.

some play to just play and drink, others play serious to win. Some have sponsors that pay loads and loads of money for their teams to travel and play the best around. they deserve to practice as well.

Having a little squirt in little league does not entitle you to dibs on the batting cage buddy. Now quit whining.

Re: Grown up Softball guy
I was at a BBQ this past week and met a man, I would guess him in his 50's, who said that he does the same thing. We have a huge baseball academy here in Omaha, UBA, and he said he goes there multiple times per week. He mentioned that last year he played in over 160 softball games.
I love playing slow pitch and even go play at the Nebraska state tourney. Having said that, I don't go to batting cages, I play in maybe 20-25 games all year, and I pre and post game at our bar sponsor for about 4 or 5 hours per game. (Have to drink at the bar because of Nebraska and their open container laws and not allowing drinking during the game)

That's the beauty of slow pitch softball, you can show up half-in-the-bag and just play. Then go home and drink more beer.

maybe your not, maybe the guys in the cage aren't, but i would bet you anything that there are pros in softball. they got there by practicing, just like you wanting your kids to.

Sounds like whoever runs your team didn't plan ahead to get cages like everyone else, so now you are throwing a hissy.

Re: Grown up Softball guy
I'm not defending "softball guy", but it's ridiculous that you think you can show up with your kid who "needs" practice for little league (rofl) and start telling people they don't deserve to be there. Such a sense of entitlement.

I am not entitled to anything.. Even health care... However if you are old and you are taking the cages away from kids who really need to practice and need to enjoy being kids and learning the game.. You are a tool bag and need to quit. Probably the same guys that knock little kids over to try and get a foul ball.

Re: Grown up Softball guy
It's not that I think I can just show up and get the field. It's calling all around and trying to find a place. Every team has troulble with it. You guys obviously have never coached baseball so you would not know. It's just sad that you finally get a spot and show up and there are old guys practicing slow pitch. Get a life.
