Most stupid sports cliche's!!!!
Let's see how many there are. I will start the proverbial "ball" rolling:
) HE HAS MORE PLAYOFF EXPERIENCE. (What does PLAYOFF EXPERIENCE have to do with anything? Experience = experience. Do the rules change in the playoffs? If a guy has played in the league for 10 years and this is his 1st playoff game, is he at a disadvantage over a 2nd year player who may have been fortunate enough to make playoffs his rookie year because 2nd year player has PLAYOFF EXPERIENCE?
) THEY WANTED IT MORE! (You mean talent, speed, strength had nothing to do with it? Seriously? I want to win the Powerball more than anybody but........)
P.S. Please tell these basketball announcers that there is NO SUCH THING as an OVER THE BACK FOUL nor a REACH IN FOUL! Show me in ANY basketball rulebook!

Re: Most stupid sports cliche's!!!!
I hate it when people call a player scrappy. Its just an excuse to like a player who isn't very good, like Ryan Theriot.

David and Goliath...thread over.

Re: Most stupid sports cliche's!!!!
Watching an Iowa State game a few years ago the announcer said that a player was literally carrying his team on his back. I don't think he knows what the word "literally" means.

Greg McDermott is a coach with great integrity... -

those arent cliche's. playoff experience does matter as well as somebody wanting it more.

Re: Most stupid sports cliche's!!!!
It drives me nuts when they mix the metaphors. Like saying they knocked it out of the park, when commenting on a good catch during a football game.

Re: Most stupid sports cliche's!!!!
Playoff experince does NOT matter!!! Only EXPERIENCE matters! Rules do NOT change in playoffs! The game is still the game!!! Don't be dumb & dumber rolled into one!

Yeah that reminded me of it, plus the Kentucky vs Cornell analysis today or KU vs UNI last week. Could the announcers for the ISU womens game have mentioned Aus from Australia/pneumonia, our attendance, David v. Goliath, season 3 pt stats for Bolte or the team, the 1999 game vs UCONN any more?

Well get ready to watch the game versus UCONN, cause you're probably going to hear it again.
