Netflix discs sent out for the Wii
I just received notification from Netflix that my streaming disc was sent out recently and should arrive Monday. Anyone else looking forward to streaming to their TV (that doesn't have it already)?
I'll be curious what kind of quality the Wii outputs...

The Wii won't do HD, just standard definition I believe.
I did hear that they're coming out with a WiiHD, but don't have any details. i'm sure Google could help you there.
I haven't gotten any notification from Netflix yet. Did you specifically request one of the CDs? Did you have to pay for it?

I'm signed in to Netflix on the 360, but we haven't gotten around to using it. We get the regular discs often enough that we probably don't have the time to watch more. -

I have the disc for the PS3 - it's free with a Netflix membership and streams HD, but you have to update your "watch instantly" list online before you put the disc in the system (I assume the same is for the Wii) - only the XBox will let you scroll through the entire list of streaming movies.

I'll be curious what kind of quality the Wii outputs... If you purchased the component video cables, the Wii currently displays up to 480i, but could be able to display movies in 720i/720p - not as good of quality as 1080p, but 720 is the picture quality of HD TV channels you watch. If you don't have the component cables you won't be able to output that high of quality picture.

If you go to Netflix's website, you can sign up to receive a free wii streaming disc.

Got mine today. I have to wait for the kid to get done with his movie before I can try it out.

I actually think the menu system and buffering is better on my Wii than my 360. The xbox keeps changed quality of picture because of my ****** ISP, but on the Wii its solid throughout.

Re: Netflix discs sent out for the Wii
We got the netflix dvd for the wii last week and its awesome. if you're a tech geek who insists on HD, surround sound and all that - you'll be disappointed. but if you want access to 1,000s of movies, instantly, its pretty cool.
I figure I can wait for an actual DVD for any movie that requires HD and good sound, and use streaming wii for pretty much everything else. really cool - give it a shot.

Re: Netflix discs sent out for the Wii
I set mine up last night. Now it's nice to have another option in the house for Netlfix streaming (if the Wii and 360 ever get put into different rooms).

Re: Netflix discs sent out for the Wii
My only complaint is that you have to have the disk in to watch Netflix movies. Why couldn't they make it a channel or install something? I'm pretty lazy and don't like getting off the couch to put the damn disk in:)

Re: Netflix discs sent out for the Wii
I'm really disappointed in Netflix's streaming service and am probably going to drop my membership. The quality is acceptable, but their movie selection absolutely sucks. Amazon's streaming service is pay-per-view, but everything you could possibly imagine is available to stream, unlike Netflix.
