WOW! Fanatics how can you be asked a question like this and not say the Big Steer in Altoona. Great people own the place, nice enviroment, and they know how to cook a Rare Steak. Might I suggest you order a Polar Bear after your meal. (milkshake with amaretto and peices of strawberry. )
It's The place I would go and I know alittle better then these yahoos above me. I raise the wonderful animals. GO BEEF!
There are not alot of things better on this earth then a perfectly grilled steak.
I was going to start a thread about advise on where to get a good steak at a reasonable price, but found this one and decided to bring it back to life. Is The Big Steer really that good? I live right around the corner from there, drive by it every day and see how busy it is every night, but have never bothered to stop and check it out.
On a side note, I read in The Business Record that Jethro's is opening a restaraunt down the street from The Big Steer on Adventureland drive, where the old Godfathers building has sat vacant for the past year plus. It is going to be called Jethro & Jake's Smokehouse Steaks. Supposed to have somthing like 12 big screens & 12 sattelites so that they will be able to play every NFL game on Sundays.

Yes it is that good.
The gap in our economy is between what we have and what we think we ought to have--and that is a moral problem, not an economic one. - Paul Heyne
The best prime rib I ever had was actually at Court Ave Brew Pub. It was huge and somehow despite its large size, was cooked absolutely perfectly. Even the waitress commented that she hadn't seen a cut that large there before. And it was so good.
"Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinionman"
