My niece lives in Chaska Minn, they open a new high school next year. They are already laying off teachers for their new 2nd high school in that town. BUT, the practice field for baseball has turf, not real grass. Is sports getting out of hand?
Separate funds that can't be used for capital expenses and not operational costs. Same thing happening all over. Schools are building new facilities but laying off teachers. Nothing the districts can do unless the lawmakers change the laws and that is a slippery slope
The marching band is over 600 members. Thats 2x the size of Iowa State's marching band. Absolutely ridiculous if you ever see a video.
The 10-12 school size is 3900.
Looks like the stadium cost itself is only 60mil. Thats not that ridiculous when it gets down to it, considering how much use the facility will get.The rest of the money- paid for a fine arts venue. I like seeing that balance. Way too often its all athletics, no fine arts, and arts gets cut first.
From a quick google, looks like the graduation rate of Allen, TX ISD is 98%, so they seem to be taking care of business on the educational side as well.
