OT - Question for Ankeny Residents

Is everyone aware of the 2nd new high school that is proposed to be built on NW State St and NW 36th Street? I thought I heard or read a couple months ago that they might be considering changing the location to NW State St and NW 18th St. I was looking for this information today but I couldn't find anything about it. Does anybody know if this is still being considered?

NW 18th sounds much better. NW36th is Alleman.

I live off NW 47th.

Having it out there at NW 18th seems to make sense. Just not too close to me :)

I'm pretty sure it's going in at State & NW 18th.

Ths is the 1st new one. There is already a 2nd new one in the works for 2013

I belive this is correct, it is also going to be called Ankeny Centennial High School, Nickname is the Jaguars, Colors Black, Silver and highlight of Maroon.

Wait - isn't the new High School right next to the new police station right off of Ankeny Blvd.?

I should know since I live in Ankeny - but I have no kids, so I'm not in the loop.

The last I heard the one being built by the police station will be the new Ankeny High School. They will keep the mascot, colors, and history of the current AHS. The one on the NW side will be the second high school.

I thought it was going to be where the old ISU research farm used to be near John Deere? There's a lot of houses there which makes me laugh because I remember stomping around back there as a kid and finding all kinds of WWII ammunition shells and cases.

See post #9. The taj mahal of police stations and the new high school are both in the Prarie Trail Development which is the old ISU research farm.

Right on all counts. It's all in the February and March school board minutes available on their website.

So, the current High School will be made into a middle school?

Do you know if they are building sports complexes (football, basketball, softball, baseball, soccer) at both new High Schools?

Current one being built is in Prarie trail. The next new one will be on NW side of town.If the school board keeps taxing the h--- out of residents they may not need another school, no one can afford to live there.
