Can you get those around Iowa? One of my husbands co-workers went to PA and brought some home for everyone. I'd never seen them before or after. And I wasn't too impressed.
On occasion, you might find them at Wal-Mart, but I always get the feeling they buy the oldest ones - like a closeout. You need to get them from Philly or Jersey. Understand - they aren't "bakery" quality delicacies! But if you grew up with them in your lunch bag at school, they bring back memories. We also had "Drake's Cakes" out east, growing up. Drake's Devil Dogs were great too!
Anyone old enough to remember some of the delights offered by Ma Hittle in the Friley Hall cafeteria. One of the few offerings that was edible was shoestring potatoes with creamed dried beef over them. Remember that baked chicken leg delight that looked like something left over from an operating room. God it was awful!!
