Best Midwest Vacation spots
What's the best/most fun Midwest vacation spot for a three day weekend type deal?

Re: Best Midwest Vacation spots
I know a lot of people who go to the Wisconsin Dells. http://wisdells.com/
I'm a camping and fishing type myself.

Somerset, WI. Tube the Apple River. Comsume extreme amounts of adult sodas. The whole camp ground is one giant party.
NHL teams need to be added to the favorite teams section. -

Re: Best Midwest Vacation spots
If you have kids and are looking at an overnight thing, Waterloo has a great waterpark that is convienently located next to a ca$ino. Plenty of fun in the sun for the kids during the day (it's a pretty big park and is a lot of fun) then go karts in the evening. The rooms at the casino are really cheap (~$60) and you and the wife can hit up the ca$ino floor for a while when the kids go to bed. I know Waterloo gets a bad wrap, but Lost Island Waterpark is a really awesome place, especially if you don't want to head up to the Dells.

I am from SW Ia along Mo. border. Took a week-end trip to Dubuque with my High School age family. Nobody from this area does that. It was a great time and a very interesting and beautiful setting on the Mississippi. I think the park was called Eagle State Park but the view of the city, river, locks and other States was awesome from this vantage point. If you are from Western Ia., I highly recommend this spot for an in-state three day trip or even two dayer.

STL -
Excellent Zoo (free)
Science Center (free)
Budweiser
Six Flags
Cardninals game
Casino
Terrific food (Sous Lard neighborhood for cajun and blues)
Nightlife (Washington Ave is my favorite. Others like Westport)
The Landing/Arch/Riverfront
Gateway Int'l Raceway (Nationwide Series is there in July I believe)
*Don't waste your time at Union Station
Or you could go to Waterloo or Ft Dodge like suggested.

Door County Wisconsin is a great place. Went camping there with the kids. Nice state park with a golf course on the bay, nice for hiking and biking and of course the fish boils. It it's just adults, Mackinac Island is a lot of fun. No cars on the island, get around by horse and buggy or bike. Lots of history and fudge.
