I know several geeks, who could tell your people over on that "expert" website a thing or two and they all say the same thing.
That is a horrible comparison. Not at all the same. Makes no sense at all.
What are they going to change to a new HD standard? If so it would break the current LCD TV's just as much as the Plasmas.
Re: Buying a new television!
We have a samsung 46" LCD and love it. The picture is great and is bright no matter how much ambient light is in the room. As mentioned before, the audio out is really important. Our samsung came with an optical out which I didn't really pay attention to until I turned on a HD movie. Don't settle with just RCA audio outs, you'll notice the difference. Also, in my opinion it is much better to send the audio out from the TV so you only have one input in your receiver. That way in order to switch to your DVD player you only have to change your TV and not have to mess with the receiver.

TV will mostly be used to watch sports, watch DVDs/blue ray, and occasionally gaming.
Does anyone know of a free consumer report website or other good feedback/info finding sites? If anyone has some first hand experience or good knowledge in the TV field, I'd appreciate the help!!!
Buy your TV (LCD) on line NOT from Walmart. Prices and shipping may be well within what you'd pay at Walmart. Samsung is a great brand and highly rated depending on model (s).

That "expert" website has over 100K users. Let's see, your several geek friends or people who actually know what they are talking about when it comes to TV's. Many of those "experts" are also people who calibrate TV's for a living. I guess I would take their word.
OK, so it's not a rock solid comparison. But the point still remains that it's a dying technology, which eventually creates a whole new set of problems when it comes to repairs and parts.
Re: Buying a new television!
I've got a 60" Pioneer,50" Pioneer,46" Panasonic. All 3 are plasma. Absolutely no regrets!!!

Lets assume that it is, in fact, a dying technology. The TV is already built and works great so it doesn't really matter. It's not like replacement parts are going to just disappear and if you need replacememt parts you probably got a bad TV anyway.
How often do you really have your TV repaired? I've never, in my 42 years, had a TV repaired.
Panasonic isn't going to stop making plasmas in the near future.
