Re: P90X/workingout advice
I finished Insanity a week ago and started P90x yesterday. I bought 160lbs worth of bands (2x80),powerblock 50lb weights, and some push up bars.
I'm really surprised the I'm not more sore after the first day. I just did the plyo (2nd day) and it's a little easier than the plyo Insanity but I like it more since I was able to keep up the whole time. I'm happy I went with Insanity first.

Finished p90x last tuesday. trying to figure out what to do next. Didnt increase muscle size too much (was not eating enough) but did increase strength and droped about 10% BF

I also use both weights and bands. I like the hex dumbbells instead of the adjustable weights, just personal preference. Then I use bands for certain things, like upright row. Doesn't have to be an either/or thing.

For me, the Plyo usually takes 2 days for the soreness to kick in.

IMO, its because of the bands. First day is chest and back isnt it? Doing actual pull ups is much more difficult than the bands imo. Same applies with the rest of the workouts. You'll still get results though.

I think my arms would be hurting a lot more from the push ups if I hadn't did them in Insanity but P90X seems to take push ups to a whole different level.

I posted above my concerns with the diet plan, but I am now use to it, and truly believe it is a huge key to success.
Anybody who is interested in getting in great shape could do a whole lot worse than this program. No need to spend a ton of money on a gym membership. It's all right here. Starting tomorrow with the wife. I'm excited to get back in shape. Played soccer in high school but that's been over 10 years now!

I just started up another round of P90X to get ready for P90X2, which if you pre-order now, will be delivered around Christmas.

Re: P90X/workingout advice
Started this last week, but had a few day break this past weekend for opening trout season.... so now I'm restarting it for good, and man it seems to be harder this week than last. I can definitely see where people get good results if they follow the program.

The wife has been wanting us to work out together but I have never done a workout "program". More of just going to the gym and doing stuff there.
What is this workout like and what's it run you to start? I noticed there was a pull-up bar but my wife is like 105 lbs and she can't do a pull-up - I've seen it, it's not happening.

Re: P90X/workingout advice
my advice is just watch your calories... walk and jog when you can, and do pushups, ab work, and pull ups somewhere at least twice a week... shoot the rec center is free... run a lap, do a set of weights... run a lap, repeat.. better then p90x and you wont quit.
if not rec center just do at home for general health.

if not rec center just do at home for general health. Doubtful. If you dont have the drive to continue p90x, you wont have the drive to make it to the rec renter. Its not just pull ups, push ups and sit ups. It has everything to do with the lifestyle surrounding it and also the timing of the videos. p90x is not a leisurely trip to the rec center if its done properly.

If you are looking for more cardio type workout rather than pullups and pushups for her, maybe Insanity or ChaLean is better. My wife does ChaLean, it is pretty intense but does not do any pullups.
Either that or put a chair under the pullup bar so she can cheat with her feet. After a few weeks of cheating, she will be able to do pullup bar hangs, and then full pullups a few weeks later.
When I first started Kosama, I could not do 2 pullups, and now I can do a dozen. But it takes a LOOOONG time to get to the point you can do them. Most of the women in our class can barely do them after their 8 week session

Re: P90X/workingout advice
Starting Insanity on Monday. I don't have much weight to lose, maybe 10 lbs, but I'm in terrible shape. It's gonna hurt.
