Re: Water in basement
I have been gradually doing things to keep water away from my house. I already have 2 foot overhang around my entire house with the wider gutters but even those get clogged sometimes and isn't enough to keep things away. I put longer extensions on 1 side of the house which helped, just got a sump pump installed this week and the guy pointed out 3 things I can do outside, all really simple. I had 2 spots with just the slightest dip that I am going to raise up with some dirt and on the back side of my house I am going to trench out and install about 75 feet of tile where the runoff from the drive behind there sits in a lower area. I just get some annoying little seeps from the floor when its gets really saturated but I think all these things may eventually take care of all that. Hoping the water finds the sump better once everything has settled and it has a chance to find the tile and sump pit better.

Re: Water in basement
My house sits in a very low area, where pretty much any direction you go away from our house you go uphill. We actually have tile on the outside of our house with a sump pump outside that's about 15-feet down to stay below the frost line. We have tile and a sump pump on the inside too, but it rarely has to run since the outside tile takes care of the vast majority of the water.
I also have about 10 feet of ADS attached to all of my downspouts leading away from the house.
Have you tried using those gutter guards/screens to keep the leaves and stuff out, but let the water run? I don't have them, but have thought about installing them, as we have a lot of Maple trees in our neighborhood, and those damn "helicopters" are always clogging up my gutters. I have to clean them out 3-4 times a year.
