    Vet recommendations in Ames

I know the obvious answer is the vet med school, but just wondering if anyone else has used a specific office in town that they've been happy with.

Also, if the vet med school is used, does anyone know of the contact information or what building over there I would go to?

    TIA.

If you have major surgery to be done or just like paying a whole lot of money go ahead and give the vet school a call.

when we still lived in ames, we went to all pets animal clinic. they were always reasonable priced, boarded, and knew us and our animals by name every time we brought them in. I would definitely go back to them if I ever move back to Ames.

Im pretty sure the microchip too... you may want to look into that

Lol... that's exactly what I'm doing. I also just want him to get checked over since he was outside for over a month and lost a bunch of weight.

Ames Pet Hospital right next to Perfect Games is real nice. They work well with schedules and have been really nice.

Companion Animal Clinic up in Gilbert is where we take our dogs. Dr. Tammy is beyond good with pets. Staff is very helpful as well.

I know you said Ames but it's worth the 5 minute trip up to Gilbert to have your pet seen by the best!

I had heard good things about Gilbert also so we transferred there for our 3 dogs. We had 2 bad experiences as they were packed every time we had an appointment and the receptionists/help almost acted as though we were inconveniencing them by being there. It also ended up a lot more expensive than it was said to be so we switched back. Could have just been 2 bad days but we were happy enough where we were at before, it just wasn't as convenient as Gilbert would have been...

My fiance is a vet student, and the cost at the school is outrageous but you will get good care.

We end up taking our cat to All Pets Animal Hospital, it's cheap and easy and they do a good job.

When I lived in Ames I always took my two cats and dog there. I thought it was afforadable and the staff really cared about my pets.

Avondale pet clinic in Des Moines is a great place. They send alot of Iowa State workers down here.
