Anyone on the board qualify for State Track this year?
We qualified 6, high hurdles, open 2, and 4
Our shuttle which i am in qualified, and are now sitting in 6th in the state.

Re: 2010 State Track
This is the first year I've seen in a long time where there wasn't an 11:00 2 miler or a 5:00 miler qualify in 1A. The 800 and 400 on the other hand had a couple weak times.
My guesses for the team titles are
1A) St. Ansgar
2A) St. Ed's
3A) Algona
4A I have no idea. I do know WAY too many qualify in 4A.
And no, I didn't qualify, but I did from 04-07 in the 3200 and 1600. -

That Taylor Huesman, kid from Manson is a STUD!
kid ran a 4:31 at conference, in the 2 mile he lapped the field! in all his years of coaching, our coach has NEVER seen that happen

Just from glancing at the qualifiers lists and times, they were one team that stood out in my mind.
St. Ed's based on the fact that they have some of the best relays in the state, and those relays have individuals who will also have a damn good shot at putting points up in their events.
Algona based on Rutledge, R. McMahon, M. McMahon, etc. Also excellent in all of the distance events, and they've been there before.

Re: 2010 State Track
The kid to watch at state- Junior, Kyle Dunn from Linn Mar. Ran a 51.51 400 low hurdles at districts. That is the current fastest time in the nation. I am looking for him to break 51 at state. Unreal. Of the videos I have watched, with fine tuning in his form and his steps, the kid could be one of the fastest kids to come out of Iowa.

How does this time compare to what Joey Woody ran in high school?
EDIT: I just looked, looks like his best time in high school was 51.71. Impressive by the kid from Linn Mar!

Re: 2010 State Track
I don't think Dubuque Senior qualified...
If I had to guess as to who takes the 4A title, it would probably be Iowa City High, or Cedar Rapids Washington. I ran from 1998-2001, and those 2 teams were always in the mix.

That is crazy fast. My best was 56.84 for the 400 lows... Hell, most people couldn't run 51.51 with out hurdles! When we (Dubuque Senior) took the silver medal in the 4x400 at Drake 2001, my split was 50.81. He would be right behind me with hurdles. That is crazy.

I think it was. 3:17 or something in prelims. Most amazing relay I've ever seen at the high school level. Close second is Brett Adams 1:50.xx split for Assumption to anchor the medley in 04.
Correction: It was 06. Collins, Sandvig, ?, McSkimming. Sandvig had a 47 and change split.

Watched this kid at the drake relays. He single handily just about won the 110m hurdle medley for Linn Mar. It sounds cliche when people say someone has another gear, but he got up to everyone else's speed and then just kicked in and started to gain ground.
Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?
