Condolences pour in for heavy metal rocker Ronnie James Dio - CNN.com
The guy was a metal icon. Who will sing about evil women & dragons now?

Re: Ronnie James Dio
Saw that this morning. The sad part is as we all get older, we will see more legends pass away. RIP RJD
They say country music speaks to the heart. Unfortunately, it has to go through your ears to get there. -

If there's anybody out there from the late 60's/70's/early 80's that you want to see better do it while you can. I was hoping to catch Dio when Heaven and Hell went out again. A legend was lost yesterday. RIP Ronnie.

Re: Ronnie James Dio
pored one out last night for him.
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come. -

Dio has rocked, for a long, long time:

Re: Ronnie James Dio
Dio has been going strong since Elf in the 60's, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, solo career, and finally back with the Sabbath guys in Heaven and Hell. I never heard of Dio having substance abuse problems and always seemed so professional and grateful to his fans when talking to the crowd between songs.
I found an entire Heaven and Hell concert on youtube from a concert they did in Germany last summer. Dio was 67 years old and Tommy and Geezer are in their 60's also. It's amazing how well they sound. So many bands just don't have it anymore and it's sad to see them still trying, ala The Who at the Superbowl.

Still the only man to make a rainbow bad ***! Rock on Dio!

Re: Ronnie James Dio
I saw Dio when he fronted Black Sabbath on both the Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules tours. I couldn't hear for a couple of days after the Heaven and Hell concert. I saw him again in the mid 80s as a solo act. I can picture the lasers, inflatable cobras, and dry ice smoke as Vivian Campbell shredded away.

Re: Ronnie James Dio
I can't even begin to pick which song Dio did is the best. Stargazer, Man on the Silver Mountain, Heaven & Hell, Falling off the Edge of the World, Children of the Sea, Die Young, Last in Line, Rainbow in the Dark, Holy Diver...god this sucks. He was such a metal icon...

Been listening to a lot of good Dio from all eras on youtube. His couple of songs with Kansas in the early 80's, The Mask of the Great Deceiver and To Live For the King have amazing vocal range and show that he is much more than a metal vocalist.
