Thanks! I think boycotting BP is viewed as a political action and political statement by some.

Re: Anyone find themselves boycotting BP gas stations?
One reason it doesn't affect BP that much is because they are also in the wind energy business. My grandpa is going to get some windmills of theirs on his land.

Re: Anyone find themselves boycotting BP gas stations?
What's going on in the gulf won't stop me from buying BP gas - I typically don't buy from them anyway as they're more expensive than most other stations, and I'm even a stockholder in BP. Plus boycotting BP stations isn't going to harm BP at all, as all the gas is being bought from a gas farm (likely supplied by BP oil anyway), and it's the local owners that would get hurt by this boycott if anyone gets hurt at all. Then again, people just won't be happy unless they have something to boycott...

I don't think you need to be a tree hugger to be angry at a company that caused what could turn out to be a major environmental catastrophe.

Re: Anyone find themselves boycotting BP gas stations?
Disasters happen, we move on,we can't just sit and gripe, it already happened, it'd be pointless to boycott BP because they are obviously trying to fix the problem, plus its not like they're just letting oil spew all over the Gulf of Mexico and not doing anything to contain the problem....If people are going to boycott it, why can't those same people try to find a solution, so they aid clean up efforts and stop griping about it? If anything these protesters are just aiding the problem by not doing anything about it....

Re: Anyone find themselves boycotting BP gas stations?
No, I am not boycotting anyone. I am being proactive when it comes to oil, pollution, and the environment. I left my job in Des Moines, found a job in Ames where I live, and fill my tank with E-85. My carbon foot print is much smaller and my wallet is fatter. It might have to do with driving 8 miles a day instead of driving 94 miles a day.

OK my 3 choices are limited
Kum and Go=Hawkeye lovers
Caseys=Doesn't carry 91+ octane
BP=Oil spill thing
I think I'll stick with BP. Plus BP (Amoco) still sends my mother a check for the 20+ years my father worked for them.

Re: Anyone find themselves boycotting BP gas stations?
I'm not sure now is the time to be boycotting foreign oil companies who are drilling in American waters who have made a mistake or two. Just because they don't pay American corporate taxes, we need this oil. The whole point of "Drill baby Drill" is to lessen the effects of terrorism on our country. BP and Halliburton barely make any money off this drilling, so some ecological stuff is bound to happen.
The Gulf will get over this in a few decades, and hopefully we will win the "War on Terror" like we did the "War on Drugs".

But nope, no plans to boycott them. I think it is crap that the gov't is saying they want to take over the clean up and fix it process. Does anyone really believe BP is just sitting back and taking their time about this? Does anyone honestly think Uncle Sam could do it better? It was an accident and they will pay big time for it. But not because I won't buy their gas.

I sent the DM Rag an email to see if they wanted to do a local interest story on how an Iowa company is aiding in the cleanup but got zero response from them. If the local company has Iowa State connections, maybe news service would be interested. News Service -
