Health Insurance Question
So, I just got approved for health insurance through BCBS and they emailed me this today:
"Welcome! You have been approved for coverage with an effective date of 6/15/2010; however, an Amendatory Endorsement is required. You will be receiving the endorsement along with your policy kit shortly."
What is an "Amendatory Endorsement"? Am I going to have to go someplace and get a signature or something?

Re: Health Insurance Question
More than likely, you have a rider attached to your policy. Either higher than original quoted premiums, or they are going to rider some pre-exisiting condition out of your policy. I.e. if you have been treated for back problems, they may issue the policy, but exclude coverage for that specific condition.
Read the rider VERY CLOSELY before accepting. If they are trying to rider out something that is active issue for you, you may need to look for other coverage.

I'm 25 years old and in very good health. I've never been to the hospital for anything more than strep throat. Which is why I'm a little confused as to what it might be..

Re: Health Insurance Question
Could be something as simple as a word being entered wrong on the application. Without any health issues, who knows? I had a situation that required an ammendment just this past week when the middle initial on an application was entered wrong.
Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating. -

I received an email a few days after I got that initial email and it told me to check the application status online, I did, and it said it was approved. So, does this mean they took care of that amendatory endorsement already?

Re: Health Insurance Question
Call your agent and find out. I don't know how BC/BS operates. Just was throwing out possibilities

I will call her Monday and find out whats going on.
Thanks for the help, though.

Is it BCBS of Iowa? Our employer used to use BCBS IA but switched to BCBS Alabama a few years ago, and now our premiums are much higher and they cover significantly less. The company I work for saved a bundle, though "No matter how many hours you study opponent films, there's only going to be eleven players on the other side of the line of scrimmage." - Sid Gillman

amendatory endorsement = could be the type of job(s) you may be involved in.
