Dam to Dam
How many of you are planning on participating in Dam to Dam this coming Saturday?

Re: Dam to Dam
Count me in! Never ran that far in my life so should be interesting. I've put in 10 miles twice in the past couple months but other than that my max is about 6 or 7 a couple times a week. I signed up with high hopes but between 2 jobs and coaching I just haven't had the time available to put in the training I wanted to for it. Hoping to finish in 1:45-1:50

Re: Dam to Dam
Just doing the 5k w/ some friends. Should be fun.

Re: Dam to Dam
I'm in. First timer. I'm been running 4-6 miles 3-4 times per week. This past weekend, I ran 7 without trouble. I think I'm ready. I'll run one more time tomorrow and then not again until Saturday.
I have a goal of 1:45.
ISU Grad 1997.
ISU Fan for Life.
Not in CO anymore but I'm not changing my name :) -
Re: Dam to Dam
I'll be there. First time for me as well.

Re: Dam to Dam
For all of us first timers, do they allow you to use ipods and other devices to listen to music while you run? I thought somebody told me a couple years ago that they don't allow it but I'm hoping I was misinformed b/c music is a must for me when I run!!!

On the website it mentions that it is allowed, but discouraged.

Re: Dam to Dam
I will be running, this is my fourth time. I have been running 5 days/week for a total of about 30 miles with longer runs on Saturdays. I should finish in 1:34 or something like that.
First timers, start hydrating on Thursday and Thursday night is your night of sleep you need for the run. Beer awaits you at the finish line!
Hopefully the rain stays away but we will see.

Re: Dam to Dam
I will be doing the 5K. This is my first attempt at something like this. Haven't trained as much as I should so hopefully I don't die. My wife and I are doing this together. She is an avid runner but has never done an event before so she is looking forward to it. I hope her motivation for training rubs off on me some day.
If anyone sees a guy who is 6'7" laying on the side of the road of the 5K route gasping for air and looking like death stop and say hello.

Re: Dam to Dam
This will be my second go round. I finished last year at 1:52 so I am wanting to improve on that.
Last year I trained hard for the month prior to the race. I was a little wiser this year and started training earlier so I should be good to go. Got my last 5 mile prep in this morning and it's carbs, water and rest until Saturday.

Re: Dam to Dam
2nd time for me too. Hope to do better than last year. I will be running with my iPod. Can't run with out it. If you keep our earbud out it is safe to run, OR just don't turn it up so dang loud.
Get off my lawn!
Very important lesson learned... NEVER pass up the opportunity to acquire a bottle of Templeton Rye... NEVER. -

Get off my lawn! The iPod is a must for me as well. After months of trial and error, my playlist is finally perfected.

Re: Dam to Dam
I just looked back and I haven't ran it since 1999. My time was around 1:54 and it was HOT. I remember multiple people collapsing.
On a side note, I kicked Vilsack's *** :)

Re: Dam to Dam
This will be my 3rd time. I will probably be around the 2:00 mark this time around. Looking forward to Nollen Plaza already....

Probably about my 5th or 6th time, and have a feeling this will be a tough one. You can absolutely use headphones/ipod, etc. Not sure they could get half the people there without that. For those first timers - once you get over the hill at mile 7 your home free. Everyone have fun - and for those with goals - just remember the beer tastes just as good if you finish a little slower than you hoped - but at least you finish!!
