$100,000 in student loans.
placing-the-blame-as-students-are-buried-in-debt: Personal Finance News from Yahoo! Finance
Cortney could move someplace cheaper than her current home city of San Francisco, but she worries about her job prospects, even with her N.Y.U. diploma.
She recently received a raise and now makes $22 an hour working for a photographer. It's the highest salary she's earned since graduating with an interdisciplinary degree in religious and women's studies. After taxes, she takes home about $2,300 a month. Rent runs $750, and the full monthly payments on her student loans would be about $700 if they weren't being deferred, which would not leave a lot left over.
Her job prospects are not looking too good right now, if you ask me. Who spends that much money on that degree.

"Ms. Munna understands this tough love, buck up, buckle-down advice. But she also badly wants to call a do-over on the last decade. "I don't want to spend the rest of my life slaving away to pay for an education I got for four years and would happily give back," she said. "It feels wrong to me.""
No do-overs in the real world, sweetie. It's called personal responsibility for your own decisions.

Anyone stupid enough to go $100k in the hole for a degree that will pay little is not very bright.
I do not feel one bit sorry for this chick.

Can't say I feel too sorry for people like this. They do it to themselves.

Re: $100,000 in student loans.
I can understand complaining about rising student loan debt (it IS a problem) especially in this economy where many are finding that that investment in an education isnt resulting in the payoff that it was supposed to bring (a well paying job to compensate for the expenditure). But really, regardless of the economy, what do you expect to get with a degree in religious and womens studies? At least with certain other degrees you can point towards a wide range of opportunities those have historically opened up for graduates. This? Not so much.

I do not feel one bit sorry for this chick. Unfortunately a good number of people do this, and I don't know that they really have a full intention of paying it back.

Re: $100,000 in student loans.
It said she did work study during college, what is that like 6 hours a week in most cases? She could have worked 30 hours a week at a gas station during the year and factories in the summer like some of us....

Back on topic: Going into a major like that, I can't feel sorry for her. I mean honestly, when you are spending that much money on your degree, what kind of job do you expect to get to pay it off after you graduate??

good friend of mine went to Notre Dame and now is a teacher at a middle school. Waste of money.
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come. -
