I have a hard drive that i think might be bad. Which sucks, because all our pictures and stuff are on it. Does anyone here have a recommendation for a place to take it to see if they can get the data off it?

Not entirely true but I promise it didn't help anything at all. Word to the wise hard drives must be opened up in a clean room environment. My guess is he opened it up and then plugged it in and tried it to see what was wrong, if that is the case then you are likely right and it could be over.
