So I start a new job Monday and I have to take a drug test Friday. It is a saliva test. I heard if you drink any alcohol within 24 hours of the test, you can fail. Anyone here confirm or deny?

Are they testing for alcohol?
If so, I would probably stay clear from alcohol for 12-24 hours prior to the test, just to be safe.
I would bet they are looking for drugs other than alcohol though, like pot, cocaine, etc. I've had one of those saliva tests done before as well, and I'm pretty sure I drank the night before. But, like I said, they weren't really testing for alcohol.
They aren't testing for alcohol. I have no problem passing the other portion of the test. I however thought of this as I got called about this while golfing and throwing down some brews at Men's League Golf tonight.
Don't worry about it. Unless you come in acting drunk when having the test it won't matter if alcohol tests positive.
I've just decided to not drink until my test Friday AM.
Yeah, you'll be fine. Since they aren't testing for alcohol and you can pass the other portion of the test, you can pretty much go on with whatever you would have done in the first place. I would, however, avoid going in hungover just to avoid that bad impression.
If you had heard such a thing wouldn't you just not drink for 24 hours prior just in case?
A new job is more important than beers at league golf. Acknowledging that is one thing, following through is another.
Not sure about alcohol but Elaine says don't eat a poppy seed muffin.
