was curious if anyone in the club or is planning on joining is in ames for the summer.
i got spare equipment to use if anyone felt like training earlier to get ready for competition in the fall, plus got 2 years of full time experience under my belt so can help on working on technique
Kind of sucks this isnt a combat sports area, so used to being mma/boxing gyms all over the place, hard to find people that do this kind of stuff here.
no one? i'd figure since this school is majority males there would be a testosterone drive for combat sports
When I was in school, (03-07) there were a ton of people in the ISU boxing club. You'll find somebody. Just hang around that area where the club meets in State Gym... You'll find some people.

I've seen a lot of Iowa boys on tv fighting also. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but aren't there several training centers for MMA in Iowa? Fort Dodge I've heard has one...
Check around State Gym for flyers or go looking around facebook for groups would be a good start

from my knowledge he is, however i noticed there is a lot of "assistant" coaches that walk around, from what i remember dowd wasnt too fond of a certain one
i thought the state gym was closed for repairs? can people still go in beyer hall and use the bags?
It is being repaired and at beyer I think you need to reserve the room upstairs if you want to use it and then you have to have the key to the storage room where the bags are. Also you need the key if you want to use the one raquet ball court with some boxing club stuff in that. The coaches are the ones with the keys.
hey jmhbb3, i just talked to the penn state boxing coach, he said iowa state doesn't compete in the national college boxing tournaments, is that true? Frankly, he didn't even hear of anyone from iowa state ever going, or even knew they had a team....
...who do u guys compete with then?
