Are you asking whether they should be allowed to drink?

There will always be a first time you get drunk...better to have it happen as a teenager in a controlled environment.

I agree with this statement in that a first time should be in a controlled environment. That did not happen with me and I got really drunk, probably should have gone to the hospital (but didn't), and was hung over all the next day. I remember taking swigs of whiskey like it was water...

Personally id lower it to 19 for purchase, 18 to drink (so hs kids couldnt purchase for friends), but i'd also change the law so younger than that could order in a restaurant with parents permission (like in WI)

Damnit! I ****ed up the thread! It was supposed to have a poll, and stuff but i accidentally hit enter. My bad
Do you think college/high schoolers need to be more mature when theyre drinking? Theres a limit, yes, but your only young once.

Re: Teenage Drinkers
I made the personal choice to not drink in High School. For me 1 night of drunken fun was not worth missing 4 weeks of football, golf, or baseball. I know guys who didn't think that way and when they did get caught, they undoubtedly regretted the decision they made.
That being said, once I went to college, I had no incentive not to drink, other than the possibility of getting a ticket.

Take it for what it's worth, but even when i get drunk, I can still talk and think rationally. There are too many people who just let themselves go and are thinking too fast. I think what makes it bad is that when people go to college, they have their first drinking experience and don't understand the responsibility/consequences of what they are doing. With no parents around, it makes it worse.
But to answer your question, i think people need to slow down so to say and think about what they are doing. Even trying to leave a bar to go to another one takes forever because everyone seems to have their own idea of whats going on.

Re: Teenage Drinkers
To add, the 'controlled environment' is also why i favor allowing 18 into the bars even if the drinking age is 21 and underage are drinking. Much more out of control stuff tends to happen at house parties than does at bars, making bars a much safer environment.

Re: Teenage Drinkers
Are they drinking alone or socially? Cause that effects my answer.

That being said, once I went to college, I had no incentive not to drink, other than the possibility of getting a ticket. I did this and don't regret it at all. The way I see it, if you want to drink, then you're making a choice. Therefore, you're accepting the consequences of breaking the law. If you don't get caught, ok. If you do, then you better be willing to take what comes and not expect Mommy and Daddy to come get you out of trouble because "they were just being kids!"

Re: Teenage Drinkers
I like the legal age of 21 bc of maturity. In the end it doesn't really though. If underage kids want to drink, they'll drink. I just hope they're responsible.
