The problem people have with him is that he is a big team/program guy. He get's the fact that if the most popular teams do well, the sport as a whole is better off. The other day he was talking about the Knicks and how the NBA cannot have success if the Knicks are bad for 20 years because they are a huge market. That is absolutely true. I like his show because he doesn't talk much about box scores and simply the games and what happened in them. He looks forward and looks at the business side which I find interesting. i probably find myself yelling at him 50% of the time because i think he is wrong, but even then, he makes you think outside of one game or event. He never hides that he is a big market guy. He's a USC fan, a Patriots fan, whatever. He will admit that. If you look at those opinions objectively though, he is right a lot of the time.

If he was an idiot he would be working the 4 o'clock sports slot in Des Moines. Not the 9 o'clcok on National radio.
Really? For the better part of the last 20 years, especially lately, the Knicks HAVE been pretty bad, and the league has gotten along just fine. Of course, Chicago dominating the '90s, and LA and Boston dominating the 2000s has helped matters, but it just goes to prove that he's speaking out of his arse when he says that the Knicks HAVE to be good for the NBA to be relevant. What Colin doesn't realize is the NBA's target market isn't the US, it's China. And China doesn't care which American city their favorite NBA team is located, they care about the team that is hanging banners from their rafters - which means China couldn't give two ***** about the Knicks because the Knicks haven't done anything over the last 20 years, and don't look to be doing anything anytime soon, especially since it appears the big free agents aren't really considering them anymore.

While I do agree with some of what Colin says, he's a very "small picture", "do what's best for the 'haves'", "go for the instant gratification" kind of thinker, which is his absolute biggest weakness because he doesn't care if the little guy gets burned in the process - in fact he would rather the little guy didn't exist, which tends to alienate more people than he realizes.

That's the thing with Cowherd - he doesn't care if he burns the little guy until he realizes he's burned too many of them in the process, and then starts "buttering them up".

He is pro Pac 10. That is all you need to know. USC was the greatest team of all time. That is what he spouts most of the year.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.

He's right though. Do you really think we win polls because we are the most popular choice? Online polls are junk as a representation of true opinion.

The Knicks haven't been bad for 20 years. Maybe 10 years. Speaking of talking out of arses where do you get the info that says none of the free agents are considering the Knicks. Would like to place a bet that none of them will go there? Do you really think the NBA would be as well off if the Lakers stunk, Boston stunk and New York stunk? How was that working a few years ago? Not real well in America. Sure China is a HUGE audience but if they don't care who is winning then it is irrelevant. You then have to shift your focus to America.

I don't see how he can burn too many little guys. That's really, again, not his audience. As long as the big markets and affiliates are happy, he's just fine.

Right, he did. He talked about Vegas hiring from the Midewest but not targeting them for business. This is because the money is on the coasts and the work ethic is in the middle. Also, compared to a lot of places, those towns suck. I love Ames to death but also realize many people wouldn't.

I am a not too infrequent listener of Cowherd for at least a few minutes in the morning. Yes, he is opinionated and quite often abrasive (and seems to take pride in it as well, which I'm sure annoys some), but he is often thought-provoking as well.

He does strike me as being arrogant, and as I wrote above, seems to delight in ******* people off, which begs unfavorable comparisons to Gregg Doyel (by far and away my least favorite sports journalist). I didn't care for his mocking of UNI after they beat Kansas (giving credence to the idea of his consistent favoring of big name teams), but in general he is certainly thought-provoking and good at what he does. After all, he has three pages on here now devoted to him.

Let's see - the talk is LeBron is either staying in Cleveland or going to Chicago, and D-Wade is staying in Miami. Does anyone else really matter? Didn't think so...
