So I'm really tired of the vinyl shutters that are on my house, and really dont want to pay for new ones. Does anybody know if I can just paint them? Does it take something other than the normal spray paint at Home Depot??

I had mine painted last year when my house was painted. They used regular house paint. My shutters look great, no issues with peeling or fading. I do have an advantage because my shutters are all facing north. The painters painted them with a brush, didn't spray. A side note, they were all ISU students, so I treated them well at the end of the day. A cold beverage does wonders to gettting a job done quicker.
As everyone has stated, yes you can paint them. I would suggest using an oil based exterior paint. This will be a more durable paint out in the elements.
I repainted mine with some plastic/vinyl outdoor spray paint last year. They look great and the paint stuck really well.
I read lots of posts on a bunch of sites all talking about reasons for not painting my vinyl shutters a different color. I still decided to go against normal advise and paint my vinyl shutters a different color. I documented how I did it and will be periodically posting how they held up in the long run here.
