Re: Abby Sunderland lost at sea...

It sounded like a bad idea when she made the announcement, and this is the worst way to be right. I'm shocked that she has a "support team" but she was 400 miles from the nearest ship? Rather poor support. I hope they find her in time.

Poor kid. The parents should be given a cell next to "Balloon Boy's" father.

Agreed. I also feel the same way about parents who let high school kids go on spring break especially to other countries.

So this is going to come across as very cold.

I do pray they find her.

I also hope that when they do find her, the mulitnational search and rescue expenses are fully funded by her moronic parents.

Who could have foreseen anything bad happening to a teenage girl sailing the globe alone? It's a shocking development. Has to just completely blindside her cracker jack parents.

For sure. I don't think my parents would let me sail around the world alone and I'm 24. Anyone who cared about this girl should have never let her go. I remember reading about this when it came out and I thought it was a dumb idea then.

the evening news did a piece about this last week, a 14 year old climbed everest and this chick was sailing the globe...
Sports journalism is people who can't write interviewing people who can't talk for people who can't read.

The difference is the 14 year old who climbed Everest wasn't doing it alone. If they had a problem there was someone right next to them to help.

in my mind, it's not so much that she's 16, it's that she's alone. That's idiotic for anyone to do at any age.

Seems like a failure of her team, were her parents on the team that was supervising?
