Iphone 4 upgrade?

I just went to ATT store to pre-order new Iphone 4 and they told me I cant get it for 199 since I bought my Iphone 3GS too soon (they said it will be 399). I bought my 3GS the day it came out and renewed my contract on the same day. I thought I was getting a 199 with 19 dollar upgrade fee? Help!

I don't think it matters since they sold out at 1:30. If you bought it a year ago you should be allowed to get the cheap upgrade price.

Did you try dialing *639# on your iPhone to see if the text message says you can upgrade? ATT's computers didn't handle the load today so maybe they just told you wrong.

It says Full discount on a standard handset or iphone upgrade is not available at this time but you may qualify on 2/20/2011. we can offer you a discounted iphone upgrade at a higher price with a 2 year commitment and an $18 upgrade fee.

What is this really mean?

This is the $399 they offered you. I believe the actual retail is like $599 or something. So, basically, you can't quite get the $199 but you don't have to pay $599 either.

If your upgrade date is prior to the end of the year, you should get the $199 pricing. I am eligible to do this, my text message is "As a valued customer, we can offer you an upgrade with a new 2-yr commitment and an $18 upgrade fee."

weird, my line is main line and has the early upgrade, my wife's is in february with the 3gs. I think the bill to the main phone has to be $100, it works out that way on ours.

My wife has no data plan phone and she wants my 3GS if I get my Iphone 4. I was not sure why it is letting other people and not me?

If the billing portion under your phone is under $100, I believe that makes it ineligible too.

So my wife and I both have iphones, the total bill goes under my number and hers only shows $9.99, so over $100.

how did you get her iPhone added for just 9.99? when i called and tried to add an iPhone for my wife they said she had to be on her own plan that was going to be a min. of 70 dollars

See if your wife can upgrade for the lower price than make the switch. They might do it for her since she doesn't have a smartphone yet. Then make the switch.
